Villa Miraglia: a charming oasis in the core of Sicily
Villa Miraglia is located in Cesarò. It was built in 1926 on the Soro mount as private home of the mayor of Giardini Naxos, and later was sold to the province of Messina. Initially was opened as a mounain refuge, and then became a luxury relais in March 2018. The property is located 1500 meters above sea level and is immersed in a unique context of the Park of Nebrodi mountains.
The owners, the Mazzurco brothers, who is entrusted with the property, did works of renovation, in which they sought a balance between ancient and modern style, preserving intact the original stone structure and furnishing the interior with a modern twist.
Villa Miraglia is on three levels. It has 10 rooms, whose names are dedicated to the local flora and fauna, furnished with taste and an original style, characterized by exposed wooden beams and old stone fireplaces.
From each room it is possible to observe the surrounding landscape. The breakfast room is a very refined environment, with a beautiful fireplance and a wall with tree tunks, with the outside, where you can have lunch and dinner, is the perfect place to have a meal under the centuries-old trees and immersed in the magical sounds of nature.
The Relais is a cure-all for mind and body, especially in summer. Due to the high altitude, you can escape from the torrid heat of the city, while in winter allows to enjoy a breathtaking snow-covered panorama.
ACTIVITIES
Because of the opportunity to live the place in different seasons, the possible activities are different: in winter, the beech foresti s suitable for winter sports, such as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
In summer, instead, are possibile excursions in the nearby lakes Mauluzzo and Biviere with various vehicles, such as horses, quads, mountain bikes, jeep 4×4; for less adventurous travelers there are many trails for trekking and nature walks.
The flagship is certainly the cuisine of the chef Gianluca Barbagallo, whose choices fall on the modern interpretation of the local ingredients, such as the meat and cold cuts of the black pig of Nebrodi mountains, local cheeses and wine. The chef cares deeply about the Sicilian culinary tradition and although innovating it, he preserves the unique and lost flavors, enhancing the products of the territory and offering a unique experience for the palate.
